News - Warzone 2 Season 3 Is Adding This For The First Time Ever

6+ upcoming maps but 12 total??

I do think V's probably going to get vaulted in the war zone relatively soon, but to Also address something that Call of Duty is doing for what I believe is the first time: adding in six total 6v6 maps in a single season. You can argue that three of them are completely original while the other three are technically repurposed, or reimaginings, of older experiences.

So this is something that I didn't expect to see because initially, when mod Warfare 3 first released Sledgehammer, it was confirmed that we're going to at least get 12 original 6v6 maps during the post-launch season. We've got three in season 1 and three in season 2, and we're getting three original maps here in our third season.

This obviously does not include repurposed maps from war zone experiences; it doesn't include remakes of original maps or potential future remasters that are derived from previous Call of Duty titles, so that's cool to know that we still have quite a few original maps on deck for this game. I wonder if this does mean that now that we have nine original 6v6 maps, are we only going to see one more added in season 4 and then for seasons five and six to give us the last three to equal 12, or was their original statement about the 12 maps minimum just a statement they had at the time that didn't reflect what the total original map counts were going to be for 6v6 by the end of this game's life cycle either way?

Even if we only get one original map in season four and then five and then six, we're probably still going to get more maps for Gunfight Ground War and some other remakes for 6v6 that we didn't expect, so either way, multiplayer is still going to be eating well. It's just all about what focus they want to put in each individual, component of multiplayer, right?

They want to put more focus into 6v6. Into gunfight ground war, the war mode, or whatever else, they're probably going to make sure things are even out every single season, but this season in particular certainly has a focus on 6v6 when it comes to multiplayer, so we have this beautiful map called Six-Star.

This is a map that I find really fascinating because it looks beautiful in the gameplay trailer.

People have compared it to Raid from Black Ops 2 based on the layout that we could see in the blog post image, and I believe some content creators were flummoxed to Dubai, to the exact hotel that this map is based off of. I'm not sure what's going on with that or when they're going to be sharing footage or gameplay from that event.

I'll keep you guys posted there, but the map looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait to play it. It is considered a medium-sized map, and in all honesty, Slammer has done a great job with a bunch of small-sized maps and even some medium-sized ones.

Arizona 6v6 map coming at launch

I think Modare 3 has a really great selection of maps, let alone the remasters from 2009, so I'm looking forward to playing this one, but we next up have a map called Emergency; this is also going to be available at launch with six stars; this is going to be more of a Smalls siiz experience.

mw3 capture the flag

It takes place in Arizona, a medical facility to be exact, and it looks pretty cool in an environment with really nice scenery. It dark and gloomy kind of takes place during the sunset. I think it looks pretty cool based on the gameplay trailer alone. I'm really excited to see more original experiences available at launch; they're not just releasing one or two day one and then the rest during mid-season; they're releasing quite a few day one, and they're saving just one original map for mid-season, as we're going to get to in a second.

Remake from vanguard in season 3

We're also seeing a remaster.

During our launch day of season 3, this is a map called Grow House; it's actually a reimagining, I guess you could say, of the sphere from Call of Duty: Vanguard. I believe that map was also released during that game's third season. And the original version of Vanguard took place more in a desert, kind of in the middle of nowhere, and it had a pretty cool canyon-type vibe, but this version is more in the forest.

You get a much different storyline for the map, as you guys probably saw in the gameplay trailer, and it goes along with the 420 theme. Season 3 is going to be emphasizing quite a bit throughout the month of April now.

Campaign map coming to multiplayer

Apart from that small map known as Grow House, we also have one more 66 map coming during midseason, which is known as Grime, and it's considered brand new even though it's derived.

I believe a bit of the campaign doesn't bother me at all, but it takes place over in England. The map looks pretty cool again—a pretty smallish layout—but you can see the graffiti everywhere, and it's probably based off one of those last missions that we got in the MW3 campaign. It does mention that the urban layout does provide a variety of cover opportunities. Though you could always head to the captain's dog for a pint and a punch, I'm really looking forward to all these maps for MW3 multiplayer in our third season.

The largest multiplayer update ever

The largest multiplayer update ever

It might arguably be the strongest multiplayer offering we've ever gotten during a post-launch window. I think the season 3 updates of just about every previous cod in the last 5 years have been a pretty strong content offering across the board.

I think it was one of the best updates that Mon Warfare 2 had last year; it was very strong for Cold War, and there is no doubt in my mind that MW 3's third season will probably be the best of the bunch by the time the season is over.

Closing statements

But that is about it. This has been DK Dynamite. Let our thoughts go.

We're talking multiple 6v6 maps in total in a single season alone, on top of taking Resurgence experiences and turning those into 6v6 maps. I really hope you've enjoyed and peaced out
