All right So I want to talk about contractor Showdown, as there is a lot of stuff that I want to go over as I've been playing the game since the open beta leading up to launch. First. I want to give the game an overview of what this brings compared to other shooters in VR, my thoughts and opinions on it, and finish off the article with a side-by-side graphical comparison on both Quest 2 and Quest 3, as visually, it looks and feels rough, but it's a compromise to get this game running on mobile VR hardware starting off, building up to the release of Showdown.

It's already one of the most highly anticipated titles to release in 2024. As it brings the Call of Duty War Zone Battle Royale experience to VR, bringing a humongous, 16-square-kilometer map, it drops up to 60 players in a single match as of right now. You can only play in trios or out solo if you check out the Phil teammates option.

If you're bad at the game, go solo a few times, and you'll get significantly better since you're forced to learn the game and don't get distracted by your friends or randoms, and it becomes easier to pick up on certain uses and dos and don'ts. The game is really intense, as it draws a lot of inspiration from War Zone.

Whether it's the zip lines that allow you to move quicker from one place to another, manually inserting armor plates inside your vest, having the ability to call in an air strike, or UAVs anywhere in the battle field, weapon crates drop throughout the duration of the map. It also has three different types of buy stations scattered around the map, allowing you to buy your kit self-revive.

Buy your teammates back in or upgrade to add in another plate of armor extended magazine. There are two major opinions on contractor Showdown: that this is the second coming of Christ, and that you have people who think every Battle Royale ever made is a cash grab. Contractor Showdown is priced at $20. And compared to other titles, that is a relatively cheap starting price for the amount of content within the game.

I will say that this is from my own speculation: when my tin foil hat on contractor Showdown needs to eventually go free to play to stay afloat, similar to the direction of population one, they'll be fine with cash, but a game like this to succeed long-term needs all the players it can get at all times, and I say this as the store borrows a lot of inspiration from Call of Duty to get people to buy in with cosmetics.

The formula is in front of your eyes on traditional platforms like PlayStation. I see this game making even more of a killing on revenue. These skins look pretty damn good compared to other games like Breachers and Population One, but I'm someone who really doesn't give a damn about in-game cosmetics, unless it's something you worked for, but if Apex Valor and Call of Duty have shown that there is a market of people willing to throw money at virtual skins This type of game, if the developers ported over two phones, would be a hit even if it didn't hit in VR.

As of right now, if you buy the game on the Meta Horizon Quest store, it's crossbite, and you'll get the PCVR version as well. In the description, I'll include a referral code so you can get 25%. As of right now, the meta PCVR version was delayed due to wanting to implement easy anti-che, which was acquired by Epic Games.

As the game is built on Unreal Engine, most games end up using Easyn. As the base level of protection, it's bundled free when using Unreal Engine. I'm pretty sure they'll go with the base option as well, as they currently have over 389, Reviews and counting: As I write this review, VR is still a niche market.

Drawing a comparison to another flat-screen shooter that I play utilizing the base level of Easy Ni and built on Unreal Engine 5 for the finals, it matters more how the developers take in the information and act accordingly. Even though you can set a preference for which region you can play in, I play with people from the EU and Asia servers.

If Ghosta Tor can have cheaters, so can this game, as it uses a combination of client-side and server-side authority. The developers are taking the potential risk of cheaters seriously, and I applaud them for it. We'll see how it goes, and developers are usually really transparent. About certain things, it usually goes down the right path, but moving on Showdown feels like a game one and two generations too early and a little bit Rush reflective of the $20 price tag.

If you're a VR veteran new to VR or want something to scratch the War Zone Battle Royale itch, pick this game up. I fully recommend it. It is the only game that delivers this experience with a huge map natively on Quest Quest. Games 10 out of 10 times look worse than their PCVR counterparts, but they're still enjoyable.

You'll eventually forget about the graphics as the gameplay is that good, and I'm not someone who is big on Battle Roy. As there is a lot of downtime between gameplay, I prefer traditional game modes. I also want to mention that I really like the attention to detail on weapon textures; they are crispy, and they look really, really good.

Audio is also pretty decent to distinguish where opponents are coming from. The UI and menus are okay, but even as immersive VR games get better, it just feels slightly counterintuitive to teleport or use Locomotion. To go to locations to access certain stuff, like skins, weapons, loadouts, and whatever the like, having everything in one place would make a huge difference in quality of life.

I highly recommend turning on Virtual Stock A or B. I don't know what the difference is; it makes the game night and day recoil without having virtual gun stock become abstract, and I don't use virtual gun stock as out of every shooter on Quest and VR.
