And that's where Modern Warfare 2019 ends with the story on a cliffhanger and a promise for part two: returning the whole OG gang; we wouldn't get that until 2022. After replaying the entirety of Modern Warfare 19's story for this article. I can safely say Infinity Ward achieved what they were aiming to do they wanted to reboot the Modern Warfare story line with the same characters as the original but with a new storyline that's grittier and different compared to the previous entries.
I think there's a nice focus on the new elements of this reboot rather than constantly hitting fans over the head with nostalgia. Even so, there's still nostalgia to be had as the story unfolds, which is a treat for the older fans. It's also very well paced, with not a lot of downtime, making for a quick and digestible experience that leaves you wanting a sequel.
The only real issue I had was how convoluted the story can get at times because of Activision's desire to craft a narrative through the other modes as well as throughout the multiple seasons that multiplayer had. Just make a complete narrative in the campaign and leave a cliffhanger for the next one.
We don't need the story to continue into the multiplayer experience. Now let's take a look at Modern Warfare 2, which takes a different approach to how it behaves with the rebooted. In July 2022, Task Force 141 will conduct a missile strike against Russian-backed Iranian forces. They successfully assassinated Iranian General Gorbani during an arms deal in Elzra.
In October, Force Major Assan Gorbani, Lieutenant, began seeking revenge on the United States by funding terrorist activities. Hassan's actions began to catch the eyes of Shephard, and the Well Marine Raiders were called in, led by Task Force 141, to apprehend Hassan's ghost and were unable to capture him, but they did discover that he was in possession of one of America's ballistic missiles, while priceing gas pursued one of Asan's couriers in Amsterdam, through which they learned Hassan has allied with the L Almas cartel and is receiving protection from them down in Mexico after a horrendously failed attempt to apprehend him at the US-Mexico border by Mexican Special Forces.
Colonel Alejandro, Vargas, and sergeant major Rulo joined Ghost Soap and Shadow Company in a joint operation to capture Assan. This time they're successful, but they're forced to release Assan to stop any potential political fallout with Iran. They need to get definitive evidence in order to arrest him.
Data taken from Asan's phone pushes the price in the gang to Kate Von. There, they learn something peculiar: Las Elas has apparently possessed Russian-made GPS devices for missiles. Boswell is captured by El Catala, so pricing gas calls upon the assistance of Far to help get her back while this is happening.
Alejandro and Socaptur, the Lost Alos leader, Elen nbre elsen, tell Our Heroes that one of the missiles is being stored on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Task Force 1: One decides to conduct a raid with their allies, yet despite the huge success in preventing the launch. Graves and the shadow company betray Alejandro in Task Force 141 under Shepherd's orders.
There seems to be a pattern of betrayal in games entitled Modern Warfare 2: Graves captures Alejandro and seizes Los vos's, the base ghost, and so flees to Las Alas as Shadow Company begins a murder spree on the residents in search of Hassan. With the help of Rodo, Task Force 1 for Alejandro and Los Voces escapes and is free.
Lazell throws out the revelation that Shepherd and Graves were responsible for an illegal missile transportation mission in August. The goal was to aid American allies in the Middle East, but after the crew was ambushed, it left them with three missiles completely stolen. Shephard was forced to try and hide the failure.
Price threatens Shephard over this revelation, but there's no time to spare as now Task Force 1 141 and Lo Voces retake their bases and kill Graves. They learned from this that Assan is in Chicago, a great city for baseball, pizza, and missile trading. The crew managed to detonate Assan's missile that he had launched at the Pentagon, saving the day and wrapping up this wild ride.
I'm hoping Modern Warfare 3's campaign blows both of these out of the water and shows that rebooting the Modern Warfare franchise was worth it after all. I guess we'll find out here soon enough if I'm going to rate the Modern Warfare 19 campaign, I'm going to give it a 9 out of 10 and if I'm going to rate the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.
