News - Call Of Duty's Greatest Gamemode. Warzone 2 Survival - Teegeethree
The year was 2008, and Call of Duty developer Treyarch had trouble keeping up with its far more successful Pier Infinity Ward in the department of popular Call of Duty games, as Infinity Ward would ditch the World War II era with a more modern rendition of warfare. Treyarch would continue Call of Duty's traditional roots with another World War II shooter.
Little did the studio know at the time, but an experimental game mode they created would go on to become one of the most recognizable pieces of Call of Duty's legacy. Hello people. I'm Tommy, and as much as I would love to discuss the very okay game mode that is Call of Duty Nazi zombies. I want to instead dig deep on a topic that has gone mostly under the radar for Call of Duty fans: a game mode that I would say is just as good if not better than the iconic Call of Duty zombies.
Obviously, the Zombies mode wasn't the only reason World at War put Treyarch in the spotlight. As somebody who has played the original Call of Duty Trilogy. I hold this game in even higher regard now than I did years ago, but to give you the short story, after World at War. Treyarch and Infinity Ward would now go back and forth, making Banger after Banger.
Triarch would continue the world-at-war storyline in the Black Ops games, and Infinity Ward would continue making modern warfare games. All was right in the world, but Infinity Ward began to feel a little insecure. By 2009. Infinity Ward would release Modern Warfare 2 with amazing campaign multiplayer and bonus content, but they knew that they needed a little more for its next game to really show they were the top dog among Call of Duty developers.
And hey, if Treyarch was able to find incredible success with a survival mode that grew its player base, then maybe Infinity Ward can take some inspiration, and so on November 8th, 2011. Infinity Ward would release the greatest Call of Duty game of all time and finalize the greatest trilogy in the history of gaming, but we're only here to talk about one aspect of this game that I am in no way biased about, so let's talk about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 survival mode: enemy forces are advancing to your position.
Do whatever you can to survive. At the very beginning, you have your starting weapon and an oncoming horde of bad guys coming your way to gun you down. What the bad guys don't know is that the character you're playing as is a super soldier with an adamantium skeleton and incrediblely fast regenerative abilities who is about to use a knife to claw their way through hundreds of thousands of defenseless military grunts.
As most survival games go, the enemies start off incredibly easy, being able to gunn down with your starting pistol very quickly. As the first couple of rounds go by, you unlock the weapons armory, where you can buy a variety of different weapons and equip attachments; the equipment armory, where you can buy explosives, turrets, and the two most important things, life-saving body armor and Quick Revive and knockoff; and the Air Support armory, where you can buy perks, missiles, and additional soldiers to assist you.
By round six, you encounter your first Buzzard, whereas the game calls it Int, which shows multiple enemy R Wings in your run. Depending on the circumstances, it can be pretty easy or the scariest part of your run, and once round 10 is reached, you will then have your first encounter with the Juggernaut, and it's pretty self-explanatory.
Powerful machine gun Tough Armor takes a lot of hits. And that is only scratching the surface because the level we're playing on is just six. 25% of the survival mode, experience, this map is called resistance and is considered the easiest among the 16, survival is split into four difficulties with four Maps each easy regular hard and insane, each difficulty offers different types of enemies with their own gimmicks more powerful enemies appearing earlier and the map environment which is something I will discuss in a little bit I'm not going to go through every single map in depth but I will talk about at least one from each difficulty and some other Maps I enjoyed while diving more deep into the game's mechanics as well this is interchange and is another easy mode map that Prides itself on being mostly open, by that I mean there's not too many indoor areas on this map meaning the Buzzard rounds are much harder to deal with compared to other levels.
However, I feel that this opportunity for uniqueness is squandered by being labeled as an easy map. I could see this level being way more fun on harder difficulties with multiple juggernauts, buzzards, and Claymore experts around the map, but interchange is still fun to run in. Speaking of run and gun, there is a large variety of weapons provided to you in this game mode.
In three out of the four difficulties, you start off with a pistol, and just like Zombie's cousin, the pistol is pretty good on the first round and then gets outclassed almost immediately. This can also be said for the machine pistols, which do have a much faster fire rate, but it's a low ammo capacity, and not being able to dual-wield in this mode really holds these things back from benefiting the user.
Assault rifles will most likely be one of your default weapons for most of the game; they're pretty reliable with a good fire rate, fast reload, and a good amount of ammo. Some machine guns are for losers who think assault rifles are overrated, but their scrawny arms aren't strong enough to hold light machine guns.
Speaking of which, my beloved light machine guns, these babies can [__] up with their excellent fire rate and enormous ammo capacity. Now I get it. You may say the light machine guns take too long to reload and will get you killed as a result. Well, guess what? Reload speed doesn't matter when you can mow down a whole wave of enemies without needing to reload.
That's just the beauty of light machine guns that some machine gun users will just never be able to understand and yes in later round rounds enemies become more powerful and can absorb more bullets but this is my light machine gun dick riding moment so shut up next up is the sniper rifles, when I played this game as a kid I don't think I ever used a sniper rifle in survival mode because even as a booger munching child I knew that there would be no reason to use these things I have no idea how these things are even supposed to be used when the main point of the game mode is you versus hordes of enemies running directly at you it's not like the submachine guns where they're bad because other guns do their job better, sniper rifles are just completely, worthless.
