That was called DMZ, and they decided with the launch of Modern Warfare 3 that they were going to cancel that mode and no longer support it, and now that they got all this feedback from players telling them no, we don't want the weapon case in Battle Royale that it's like it's called Battle Royale, it's not called DMZ. We don't want to see that they're sort of trying to bring the features that we had from DMZ into battle royale, and many players were not fans of that; they didn't like that at all, so it seems like now they're trying to separate it into its own mode, which to me is basically.

DMZ is making its way back into the game now because they did say they originally canceled DMZ because they couldn't support it.
All the teams were busy doing something else. Raven was working on Battle Royale and the actual war zone; you had Infinity Ward. I guess, overseeing everything; Treyarch was working on their next Call of Duty; and also working on zombies; you had Sledgehammer working on the multiplayer. Now that they're officially announcing that the weapon case and the cover of Xville will come in mode by themselves, I'm not sure if they're going to be introduced in this mid-season update.
This could be a good thing if it is going to be introduced here or if they're going to be, you know, saving these efforts for season two or a future season. If you will, maybe they'll have a weapon case on the map. Every team's goal is to secure that weapon case and try to fill it with it, and it'll be sort of like a mode like plunder or a capture-the-flag type of thing brought into the war zone.
Everyone's going to fight over it, and whoever can secure it and escape with it will end up getting some sort of reward. The system of the weapon case that we saw with DMZ is not going to get changed; they're going to be recycling the same thing every single time you fill it. You'll get a different type of reward up until you've filled the maximum number of times, and then every time you win, after that, you'll start generating.
XP i feel like that will all stay the same. I don't think that they're really going to change or adjust that, and then at the same time they could, in my opinion, start adding more and more things into this mode and slowly turn it into DMZ, but one of the reasons why I think they wouldn't do that is because then it starts overlapping with zombies, and once we start seeing more content added into this brand new mode, it starts turning into DMZ.
Zombies is basically DMZ, just with zombies running around the map. It really wouldn't make sense for them to actually fully bring back DMZ, so what I'm saying here is that they might bring back a portion of it with this brand new mode and weapon case since they have now officially announced that they are separating it from the Battle Royale playlist, and it'll be something completely different.
We'll have to wait and see what they have planned for this, but in the meantime, basically, you can think of it as season 1 reloaded. Has had a large portion of it cancelled because we are no longer going to receive this weapon case or cover.
