News - The New Warzone Update Is Completely Unplayable
Today was obviously season 1 reloaded for War Zone and Modern Warfare 3, and let's be honest, it's no secret that when a major update happens for COD, sure, we get plenty of patch notes, gameplay changes, and new content. There are also usually some broken aspects and some things that get messed up with the updates.
That's sort of to be expected, and that in and of itself is unfortunate, but we've sort of come to terms with that over the years. Today's update, though, could potentially. The most broken update that we've ever seen in COD, this update today, season 1 reloaded, was meant to do so many different things for multiplayer or for War Zone, and it did some things, but the issues introduced with this are just insane.
The Cod Updates account has been posting pretty much non-stop since the update went out about new things that they're looking into, things that they've already removed from the game, and things that they've delayed, so we've got a lot to get into. Drop a like on it, and if you're new to the channel, you want to guarantee you're always up to date with everything going on in COD.
Turn on those post notifications. But initially, here, like I said. COD updates have been going crazy with the tweets, so initially, from a couple hours back for war zone, we're investigating an issue causing players to enter a bugged state when attempting to open a loadout. This is essentially just making it so that you are unable to use loadouts entirely.
You go to open up a loadout, and as soon as you grab your loadout, it crashes your game; you can't play it; it just flickers your screen constantly until you hard close and have to restart again, literally gamebreaking. If you want to use your own guns in War Zone right now, you have to buy them out of a buy station; you can't play it normally.
Huge issue There's also an issue going on where they're investigating players getting stuck in a fetching data loop if they're trying to go into certain playlists on the menu sometimes in multiplayer, but especially in War Zone, it just keeps kicking you back out and back out and back out again, kind of making it unplayable.
They're also investigating an issue causing kill streak notification banners to not appear correctly in the war zone, so your air strikes your clusters. If this gets sent to you, there's no notification, and there's no red text. Hey, there's an enemy air strike in your AO; nothing like that. You're just going to get hit with an air strike with zero warning and zero expectation of it happening, and you're going to be spectating or you're going to be in the goog, and you're going to be very upset.
It's been an ongoing issue for years now with the air strike notifications not working correctly, and now we just don't have them at all because, you know, why not power for the course with today's update? This is another interesting one. We're investigating an issue causing distorted geography in ö.
But in the patch notes, there was like this whole section of Hey, we've fixed all this stuff with the geography in Urzikstan with mantling, and all this other stuff, there's like hundreds of fixes pushed out for it, and they immediately have to go through and have other issues looked into with the geography, so, just interesting sort of things that are not lining up as the patch notes intend.
We're investigating the issue preventing some players from earning the HRM 9 SMG. We'll talk about this one more in just a moment. This is another big one, and Raven actually put out a full statement on this about disabling. The Champions Quest so here's what Raven quote tweeted this with upon deliberation with our teams we have decided to temporarily disable the new Champions Quest feature, at the moment the current state of the update does not meet our standards for quality and gameplay, and we are committed to addressing the issues promptly to ensure that all players can enjoy war zone to the fullest extent possible our goal is always to provide a smooth and seamless experience with that said we'll be re-enabling Champions Quest at the earliest possible opportunity, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause to those who already began chasing those victories so not even a few hours after the update went out they already have to remove and completely disable one of the major highlights of this update because it's having such a significant impact on gameplay and making the game borderline unplayable then even after they take this out there's still all these other issues and more that we have to cover here from the Cod updates account it's just insane to me that there were weeks leading up to the preparation of this update, and then it dropped.
And this is what we got, like. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes; I'm very ignorant to Game Dev just straight up. I'll fully admit that, but like, a lot of the stuff that gets into the live update. I feel like, probably should be picked up in QA or like noticed in the play test, and stuff like loadouts being completely inaccessible and stuff like that.
I feel like is pretty common, so I'm just really curious how it ends up happening. You know, maybe they test it and it's fine, but then the second it goes live, something breaks, and then we have these major issues here where the game is just so incredibly broken, but jumping back to the Cod Updates account causes more delays.
MW3, ranked play launch delay. Due to unforeseen circumstances, i.e., the game doesn't work, MW3-ranked play will be delayed while we investigate a recently discovered critical issue. Our teams are working to solve this issue and launch MW3 ranked play as soon as possible, so initially, ranked was not supposed to go live right with the update alongside all the other changes; it was supposed to go live a few hours after, probably around the time you guys are seeing this article, and now it's been delayed indefinitely.
It could drop in 10 minutes after I post this article and get that Cod timing; it could drop in a few hours later tonight; it could drop in 5 days; it's an indefinite delay; basically, it's delayed until they can fix this issue. And we don't really know how long that's going to be, so another huge gamebreaking issue that's taking away core content that we were expecting with the update today, Modern Warfare Zombies.
We're investigating issues associated with doghouses and turrets, so there are more gameplay updates there. Actually, as I mentioned, I pushed out some updates already, so initially, the event tab hasn't been showing up for players for weeks now, a huge issue in terms of tracking challenges. Today they did fix that, and I can confirm because I had friends who saw this update go out; they restarted their game, and it worked for them.
