This is something I have mentioned in the past, but it has been a while, and I do want to bring it up again. because I think there is a fairly obvious solution here when it comes to the crutch: covert sneakers or now the ninja vest as well. I have seen a lot of complaints surrounding them, and I get it.

The other boots are basically useless in this game because it feels like you need to use covert sneakers, and I have seen many people suggest that the covert sneakers should just be nerfed or the bone conduction headset should be buffed in order to counter those. In my opinion, though, the best solution to this is to target the default footstep audio.

That's the real core problem here: the default footstep audio is too loud and audible at too great of a distance, to the point where even in respawn game modes where there's a lot of gunfire and action going on, if you're not using Cob sneakers or now the Ninja Vest, you're putting yourself at a very severe disadvantage.

If you're trying to get around the map, if they were to very noticeably cut down on that default footstep audio, then many of us wouldn't feel nearly as pressured to run in the covert sneakers of the Ninja Vest. Many previous Call of Duty games that had footstep daning perks had very balanced base footstep audio to the point where, at least in respawn game modes, you didn't feel like you absolutely had to use that perk because it wouldn't be giving up your position constantly to people that are like 30 m away from you through walls, so if they toned down that default footstep audio to the point where you could hear footsteps still but at a shorter distance and not over a lot of gunfire that was going on in your immediate surroundings, then, at least in respawn game modes, perhaps you would see people branching out to the other boots.
