I just would have thought that when they initially announced the return of fortunes and rebirth back at Codx, maybe that's something that they were planning on doing. I just didn't know if maybe they were far along in development for both of these maps, having to effectively rebuild them on the brand new engine from the ground up to better fit the MW3, movement integration.
New resurgence map rotation 2024?
But A big question I have is: what does the map rotation look like if Rebirth does come back in season three? Because as of right now, Fortun Keep is in rotation with all squad size options, as is Zakhan. V's coming back next week with lockdown and probably limited options for Resurgence or BR, but asika is nowhere to be found at least as of right now, and I was thinking that at some point they'd probably end up cycling out ashika, vondal, or both just to ensure that there's more spotlight on fortunes and rebirth because people are going to be upset when, let's say, there's going to be a week where they can't play Duos trios or quads on one of the new maps because they have Aika or Vandal in rotation.
I'm sure people out there aren't going to be happy about that. When that happens, I think, right now, it's cool to see fortunes keep in the spotlight with all squad size options. But maybe there will be a point in the next few weeks or months where you have ö Stan pois. Ashika vondo fortunes and rebirth all in rotation on what 15-minute timers for a certain Resurgence Squad size option.
That's crazy to think about, but I'm sure you guys out there would probably rather just see fortunes and rebirth for Resurgence, unless you guys also want to keep some type of life left for Asika and Vondo in terms of the Resurgence experience.
Swimming, cutscenes and map changes
pointing out is that these usual leakers did also mention that swimming has been referenced for the new version of Rebirth Island. Now, it's crazy because we had Rebirth active as a war zone map for a number of years, and swimming was obviously never an option because there was no swimming allowed on Modern Warfare 19's war zone experiences.
That just never happened; even Caldera, an island, didn't let you swim right; it was just shallow water you could walk through, but with the addition of new swimming mechanics in the new iteration of War Zone and with the addition of all these new quality of life featur Fe, that really changed how War Zone works and feels.
I can't imagine how our rebirth is going to play out, and it's almost going to be like a brand new experience that we've never played before, but on top of that, what about point-of-interest updates? Obviously, we all want to see a pretty faithful version of rebirth that we already had for several years, but what about the fortune-keeping treatment?
Where you update certain points of interest, you have something that maybe erupted or exploded throughout the map, which impacts how certain areas look, and how about adding in new points of interest that we didn't have for several years on top of refreshing? All the secrets and Easter eggs that could be found on the map make it a pretty interactive day-one experience.
I mean, I'm really happy with what High Moon did to fortunes. I think it's absolutely brilliant, and I can't imagine how rebirth could be done even better with new discoveries on the very first day it comes out. Hopefully, we don't have to wait several weeks or months, like with Ersan, for them to add in various quests, bunkers, and interactables.
And things that make the map that much different from the version that we already played throughout War Zone 1.
Zombies, verdansk and the future of wz
Now something sad that we can kind of put the rest for now is the possibility of seeing a zombified version of either Fortune Keep or Rebirth. I don't think we're going to see these maps added as exclusion zones, even if it's just one big Tier 3 or PVP space. I don't think we're going to get support for either of these maps inside of MWZ, even though Fortune already paved the way for that considering how much zombie support there is for Fortune while playing Resurgence.
I think the zombified additions to fortunes are just limited to season 2, considering it's a Zombies theme season. That's sad to think about because of how much fun all the zombie content is while playing, while rebirth, I think, would make perfect sense as a zombie type of experience. Hopefully we still get some type of addition with zombies, even if it just is some contracts.
Easter eggs. Wonder Weapons, or in-game events that introduce us to hvts and whatnot while playing Resurgence. Then who knows when we're going to actually get a war map that we've never seen before? That's a big question, maybe in late 2025, but as of right now, that's what we know about future war zone experiences.
