News - Is #warzone 2 Ranked Play Actually Unfair

There are eight ranked divisions, which makes this matchup even more confusing. So I did see some screenshots floating around on Twitter with the top 250 players in lobbies with bronze players. Absolutely insane, but I thought they were literally memes. I didn't think they were real. I thought the point of these was pretty much to say that rank play was the blender.

Maybe the individual was having a hard time performing well as a whole, but it turns out the posts weren't memes, and this is actually happening. I heard matchmaking isn't even solely based on your rank, said one user; it'll also take into consideration your public match performance, so if you're a good player in public matches, then it'll match you with similarly skilled players right off the rip, regardless of your rank.

Bronze players can be matched with Crimson just because the game thinks the skill level between players is even. People responded to this comment with displeasure, some calling the matchmaking system horrible. While others wondered if there was some way that reverse boosting was involved that could make the team so uneven, yeah.

I do understand the matchmaking for ranking another user under a familiar post. I love ranked; it's an absolute blast, but you should have faced outside a plus slg1, like gold should see plat and silver, but I think there should be a hidden metric where if you are doing stupid good and you get bumped to a plus two to zero to avoid having people that Smurf accounts, so two things I want to touch base on here: I agree that the matchmaking process in Modern Warfare 3 isn't solely based on your rank-play performance.

Believe it or not, I had a couple of theories, one being almost the same thing: one of the Reddit users said that it also takes into consideration your public match performance. The second theory I had is that it took into consideration how well you performed in Modern Warfare 2 rank play. Obviously, there is no hard evidence of either, which is why we are left to speculate.

Also, I hate to say it, but Smurf accounts are a thing. The term smurfed is used to describe a player in an online game who creates a new account to play against lower-ranked players. However, it could be used as an all-around term for a player who is using an alternate account or has multiple accounts.

I think if you've played Modern Warfare 3 in the past few weeks, especially rank play, you've run into some players that are on Smurf accounts. This isn't an isolated incident either, and while there aren't too many examples of the full bronze teams going up against the top 250s, it isn't uncommon for low-ranked players to play against people in Crimson or Iridescent.
