News - Modern Warfare 2: New Surprise Holiday Update Patch Notes. Warzone 2 Gameplay Update
Ladies and gentlemen, hey. Today, we actually got sort of a holiday last update, if you will, in Modern Warfare 2 and War Zone 2; sort of a holiday last update, if you will, because I'm assuming that the Infinity Ward. Raven. Treyarch Studios, and all the other studios basically working on MW2 and War Zone 2 are probably headed out after today for the holiday break, but we did get sort of a last-minute update today.
This is not one that you have to go out of your way to download or anything; this is just a little hot fix update and a little game settings update. You might get the "This update requires a restart" screen. I know last night there was a small update that went out that also did the same thing; they haven't talked about the actual patch notes for that, but as of today we do actually have some new content in the game, and we got some new updates on some changes, or some gameplay updates, if you will, from Infinity Ward as well.
New modern warfare holiday update changes
So first up, we have our mini update as of today that applies to Warzone 2 and MW2. So this is stemming from Infinity Ward over on Twitter, where they ended up tweeting out this week in Modern Warfare 2. The cyberattack is here, so this in and of itself is a brand new surprise update. On the whole road map for season one, we didn't really have any new modes for Modern Warfare 2 at all outside of the CDL Mosh Pit, which was delayed several times over and over and over again.
Outside of that, nothing else was ever previewed, although we've had various different modes available in the private match section of MW2 for a bit now, with Cyber. Attack being one of them, and it's now officially live in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. It obviously first debuted back in MW 2019 in a pretty cool mode, in all honesty, and it's now one of the official playlists here for MW2, Multiplayer.
We also now have the brand new holiday and Christmas updates live in multiplayer as well. Keep in mind there's no big event or anything going on; it's just a small little map update for shipment (they're calling it Shipmas now), so we have that now available in public matches. It's the Christmas version of the shipment with all the decorative lights, unlike last year with Vanguard.
January 4th could target that as maybe a new update day. We'll have to wait and see, obviously, and time will tell, but that's what's live in multiplayer. We also have some new changes for War Zone 2 as well.
New warzone 2 surprise update changes
If we go on to Infinity Ward's next tweet this week in War Zone 2, we got a brand new playlist update, so we still see the continuation of mini Royale trios obviously, a complete change of pace for War Zone 2 gameplay on a Mazda, which is really fast-paced and honestly, a lot of fun in my opinion.
Battle Royale: Quads is still going to be live. We also have standard Battle Royale Duos. Trios, and Solos as well, so all Squad sizes for core Battle Royale gameplay, but the surprise update this week is one that I know a lot of players are going to be very excited about: we've got the third-person Battle Royale trios.
Mosh Pit is back online yet again. Unfortunately, this was initially supposed to be live according to the patch without a preview at the start of Season 1 Reloaded. Though it was delayed, they said it'd be back in the future but didn't give a time frame as to when that would be, which was today, so this is live for at least the next week.
I'm curious to see if next week after the holidays we'll end up getting a new update for playlists as well. We'll again have to wait and see if anything does end up changing in the game in terms of, you know, any patch notes or playlist updates. You are up-to-date, too. Let's try for 2,000 likes on this one.
We do also have a few other gameplay changes to go over from Infinity Ward real quick. Before we get into that, I just want to remind you guys that if you were looking to treat yourself for the holidays or if you want to start off the new year right, look no further than {104}. If you are interested, the code "Immortal" gets you a nice little discount on your order.
Dmz update removes building 21
We actually got this update yesterday afternoon, and this was another surprise update, one that I don't think a lot of players are going to be too thrilled about, but obviously A few days ago, we got the launch of Building 21 in the DMZ, which is this brand new area that's actually on a separate map entirely.
From all accounts, it's a whole, like, map selection screen that we'll talk about in regards to some leaks here in the future, but that was live, and they said it was only going to be live for a limited time. 24 hours after Building 21 went live, it was taken down, so Building 21 has entered lockdown after significant infiltration access; cards are disabled but will be operational within the week; prepare accordingly.
So it seems like Building 21 within the DMZ is going to go live for random 24-hour periods during the week on any given day, but they don't communicate what day it's going to be live. I'm hoping that in the future they do because I know that even looking back to Warzone 1, we always had those playlist preview images where it was the week of the 21st that this playlist was going to go live and the week of the 28th that this playlist was going to be live, and people could plan accordingly.
Okay, I want to make sure that the squad is on the 28th so we can play this mode, and the same deal is with Building 21, which you might want to know. Okay, it's going to be live on Thursday. We've got to make sure all the boys are there on Thursday so we can use our access cards to get into Building 21.
If you don't know when it's going to drop, it could be Wednesday afternoon, and you're like, "Okay, can we get on and go into Building 21?" Jimmy's out there; he's got the bowling club. Now you guys don't get to access Building 21's full squad because you didn't know it was going to be live, but it's going to be live back and forth for presumably 24-hour periods, so we'll have to keep an eye out on that moving forward.
New mastery camo notes for mw2
Infinity War did also update us on another issue recently; here they said we are aware of an issue where some players are still seeing errors with mastery and camo progression, which we're actively investigating.
