News - How Warzone 2 Can Be Saved
My initial thoughts on warzone 2
Call of Duty diehards are not so happy with Warzone 2, but I have been absolutely loving it. This game, though, has two things that could have saved it a ton of outrage, although I think a lot of the outrage is part of the marketing hype for it at this point: one, calling this an early access game, maybe even a beta like they did with DMZ.
There are just too many bugs in this game; it's not done, and this was my fear back when I played it in the alpha. They should have changed the name to "Camping Simulator," or honestly, any other name that wasn't "Warzone." Just like switching from Blackout to Back in Black Ops 4, which I played a ton of and did a bunch of content on, switching from that to Warzone was a very different game.
What i like about warzone 2
It was a similar shift even when I played Caldera. came out in terms of the differences, but this is a whole other leap of a game. There have been a lot of wins and improvements with this game, the biggest of which for me was the map and the level of detail, especially comparing it to Caldera, even after playing it for over 10 wins on solos, duos, trios, quads, and the new absolutely unhinged mode.
I'm still finding new buildings, new drop spots, and new waterways, New random loot spots under bridges, and it all feels very cohesive. I think we can all agree on FOV and sliders for the console. It's about time guys holding gas masks self-resisted. Even carrying satchels for your teammates who might be on the other side of the map, even carrying a gun for them so you can drop it for them as soon as they spawn in after constantly dying and having to carry them.
No shooting when you're dropping out of the plane for the first time; you don't land with your armor already cracked because somebody's shooting at you or a whole team gangs up on you and kills you on your way in similarly by helicopter. In farming, how many times did you have somebody pick up a helicopter and then just chop you out of the air or just start splattering, taking you and your whole team immediately off land?
I'm so happy these things are gone, but even outside of the game, some of the quality-of-life things like the firing range that just lets you go in and test some of the attachments before you go into a full game now, especially on launch, this thing was massively buggy, and the features that are in it are still complete.
Bare Bones, but Man, do I love having that and just the ability to quickly test something or tune something before we go in and practice shooting some dummies while the game is even loading in; you don't have to do a whole separate loading thing, as well as the way that we unlock guns and attachments in the game, which I know a lot of people hate; I've done some articles already about this; but this is going to help future proof the game so much as new guns come out; you'll already have attachments; leveling them is so much easier; plus the fact that you can unlock them in different ways, which is one of the things I was talking about back in war zone one because it always forced you to go play plunder in such a stupid way; or get the multiplayer.
I'm Now you can even just fully unlock a gun in the DMZ for new players. This should be a much better experience, but there are a lot of "ifs" with that and many of the things I talked about, as well as a ton more individual, little items that I can get into.
What i want to see changed
You've heard me talk about it on stream in other articles, and we'll get more into some of those topics, but I really want to get into what I want to see improved or changed in this game. First off, this is a much more classic battle royale. I think that's pretty clear to see, and while the developers don't listen to me anyways.
I want to at least start. A discussion with you all in the hopes of making this game better will focus on what's missing and where we take a step backwards from what's already in. The game and what I think should be improved in future seasons I think we can all agree the highest priority is making this game actually stable and work in the first place, but I've kind of made some bullet points that I wanted to go through in no particular order, but these are the biggest things that really stood out to me in my first, you know, over a week of playing the game, where I had over a thousand wins in War Zone: Blackout, which was my main game for a very long time.
I have yet to get into the DMZ, and I'll probably do a article on that coming soon, but I mostly want to focus on even some of the quality of life items, and obviously a lot of these are going to be very subjective. I want to start with what I think should be one of the highest priorities, and I really wish I was a part of this game just from launch.
That is a reconnect feature even if it isn't a developer error crash in the game and the instability of the game even if your own game, your computer, your power goes out, your Wi-Fi needs to reset, and your kid hits the cable whatever, especially with a mode like DMZ in the game but especially a battle royale, which is one life.
Centrically, focused on this critical buildup, you need a way to stay in the game. PubG's Apex Legends has this; it's not like it's a crazy feature that I think we're even asking for with it. It leaves your character stationary, so it can still be killed if you leave. It's not like it's going to be immune; it keeps you alive.
That's the strategy to abuse the game, but you lose such a buildup of progress, and even after you win a game, there should be a "play again" button. Okay, maybe if it's not a win, maybe if it's a loss, maybe they'll win. To keep the excitement and momentum going, that's why they make you watch that entire long outro.
That's understandable, but this keeps people in the game even more. Just quickly click "play" again, and you're right in. Proximity, chat volume based on how far you are away as well as direction—how great would that be now? Now there are huge problems with this because PC has a massive advantage.
it's very easy to hop in a Discord server side control a conversation there while also being able to selectively, say what you want to in-game, to bait people towards, you or just have people have no idea you're there whereas you can hear them talking if they're just in a random squad who met with one another in the game personally I'd rather have proximity, chat in the game keep this feature because this is such a casual game if they have ranked or something then they could pull it out because then there might be a little bit more unfair play there but that's made my commanding officer articles pretty good Please, call duty and do not remove this.
